WHERE I GO: CHIOGGIA inspirations
The magic of Venice in a much more discrete way.
Every time I go to Chioggia I fall more in love with this beautiful little town.
With its pastel buildings and its vibrant atmosphere.
So true and familiar; faraway from the glamour of the neighbour, Venice.
The fishing port has a cosy fishing Trattoria with wonderful fish dishes.
Sunset, a glass of white and Bon Apetit.

Full Moon at Riegesburg

FULL MOON.
it is always special for me a full moon night...
maybe because I am a woman and we are soo much influenced by the moon.
My son is born in a full moon night and it was so magical.
Actually he had long, black hair on his ears for many months after birth... and I started to think that maybe because he was born in a full moon night he might have had something of a lycanthrope..... eheheh scary... but then he lost all the hair ...

When I think of full moon I think about magical woods, witches and wizards, medieval castles, ghosts, proud knights on their horses, jesters and jongleurs, kings and queens....

I love Mittelalter time.

In Germany and Austria and also the north of Italy there are quite many medieval festivals along the summer.

Last Full Moon of august we went to this really magical one, in Austria, in a castle called Riegesburg .
The castle is on top of a mountain, in a really strategic position, it has two defensive walls with two drawbridges.

Inside there was organized a beautiful medieval setting, with market, medieval food and knights fighting on their horse, witches and gypsies reading the hand, storytellers, jesters and acrobats.

We also took a tour of the inside rooms, some of them had been renewed in the Baroque time...

.... a legend says that there is a ghost walking around the castle in the night...

All around the castle walls there were colorful teints and musicians and knights in their armor

The gypsy read the future on my hand.
We ate some good food with our hands and listen to the bagpipers.
It was a magical day and then came the full moon.

Fall is behind the corner.
I just realized that summer is almost finished.... and autumn is just behind the corner...
I am a bit sad cause I love the summer, but I am also looking forward the cozy days of autumn, with their sweet sunsets lights and their chilled morning air.
The afternoons spent making marmelades, painting and reading next to the fireplace.

Today , we had a storm, with rain and I had to take out my gum boots again....
it is gumboots time again.
Around here it gets all muddy from now on, because my garden is not really finished yet and I miss the tiles in the pathways, so they end up becoming little rivers of mud .

Apart for that, I love this time and the harvesting of so many gifts of nature...

I already harvested some of my Hokkaido pumpkins. They are delicious.... and I am looking forward sharing some good recipes with you.

Our apple trees have been very generous too. We did not harvest yet, but the early apples are already in the baskets, waiting in the cool of our CANTINA , to become apple juice, dried apple chips or simply to be eaten as they are... yummi!!

and last ... grapes.... they are almost ripe.... last year I made loads of grape jam. Delicious!
What will I make this year?

BULLDOG MUSEUM, - where we go-

Last week we went to a really interesting place.

It is called BULLDOG Museum and it is an open air exibition of all kind of vintage, antique, nostalgic, retro' bits and pieces.

There are a lot of old tools for the agricolture, tractors, machines, wheels

but also vintage tin signs, ceramics, pottery, and all kinds of strange things.

The owner is a metal artist and he does a lot of funky assemblage. look at this tractor...

I love this typical austrian house. Isn' t it very cozy?

and here comes a carillon player

I I leave you with this last pic of these two very sweet musicians and singers.
They played amazing.

Plitvice National Park - WHERE we GO
Hello there
I am back again.
I know I have been away for long time...
This year my Soul and the rhythm of my life do not let me spend much time with the computer.
I hope I can post more constantly with the beginning of fall.

We have just come back from a trip by car through ex Jugoslavia.
Really dramatic landscapes.
we did not do highway but we took the little side streets to see better the landscapes and the little villages.

Our first stop was Plitvice National Park in a rainy day.

The rain gave a even more magical atmosphere to these woods.

We really loved it, and kept our eyes open to see bears but we did not see any...

Anyway the waterfalls and the lakes of the park are awesome.

Some lakes are housing gigant trees that are fallen in the water and they create a incredible underwater landscape.
